Are HEATSCOPE® heaters supplied with a plug?
Spot 2400W, Vision 3200W and Pure 2400W are not supplied with a power cable and must be connected to your electrical circuit. For installation use only the supplied accessories or original accessories approved by the Manufacturer.
Spot 1600 includes a plug for 110V.
What comes included with a HEATSCOPE® heater?
Each model includes a bracket to mount your heater to the wall or ceiling, an installation manual and warranty certificate.
Where is the power cable of the infrared heater located?
For Vision and Spot models, the power cable is located on the side of the appliance. Pure is equipped with a cable latch for ease of installation.
How do you turn the heater on?
Your HEATSCOPE® radiant heater needs to be connected to an electrical circuit. It can then be turned on via a wall switch, a remote control or a smartphone. Please check our optional accessories available.
Is a remote control included?
The remote control comes included with Spot 1600W. This is an optional accessory for Spot 2800W and Vision 3200W.
How does the remote control work?
The intuitive remote control allows you to easily turn multiple HEATSCOPE® units on and off with the simple touch of a button.
Is the heat output adjustable?
HEATSCOPE® radiant heaters have two options to adjust to your heating needs: 100% and 50%. You can adjust the setting from your wall switch, remote control or smartphone.
What heating accessories are available?

How do I install my HEATSCOPE® heater?
All infrared heaters must be installed by a licensed electrician and in accordance with the installation and instruction manual.
How are the HEATSCOPE® heaters connected?
Electric heaters are hard-wired from the switchboard to an optional wall plate switch to allow you to easily turn them on.
Does my HEATSCOPE® radiant heater need to be on a Safety Switch (RCD)?
Yes, this is in accordance with AS/NZS 3000:2018 wiring rules.
What’s the advantage of installing a WiFi switch?
The optional wall switch with WiFi connectivity provides maximum convenience and ease of operation. With this configuration, you can use your smartphone to simply turn the HEATSCOPE® heater on or off.
Can they be installed in residential and commercial environments?
Yes, HEATSCOPE® electric infrared heaters are compatible with both residential and commercial spaces. For larger spaces, consider a multi-heater installation. Our business consultants are ready and available to help you find the best solution.
Are HEATSCOPE® heaters supplied with a thermostat?
No, they do not include a thermostat control system. However, if desired, they can work with an existing thermostat. Please consult your electrician for further information.
Where do I buy HEATSCOPE® radiant heaters?
Can my radiant heater be installed near a power outlet?
The heater cannot be installed directly below a power source or socket. The sides of the unit must be at least 20cm from the nearest power source. For further details, please refer to the installation manual.
Can I install the HEATSCOPE® heater in my bathroom?
Spot and Vision models must not be installed in or near areas where there is high level of humidity such as bathrooms, spas, bathtubs, showers, or pools. However, Pure is rated IP65 with a higher level of protection against water and can be installed in and near these spaces.
Can all HEATSCOPE® heaters be mounted on the wall or ceiling?
Yes, all models can be installed on a wall or ceiling to fit your project needs.
Can I install my HEATSCOPE® vertically?
Pure is the only heating system that can be installed vertically or horizontally. Spot and Vision can only be installed horizontally. Please review the installation manual for further instructions.
Can I cover my HEATSCOPE® heater?
No, electric heaters require adequate ventilation surrounding the heater at all times. Please never cover the appliance nor enclose it with insulating or similar materials.
How long will installation take?
A single electric heater takes approximately 2 – 4 hours to install. This is dependent on the area and distance from the switchboard. Please contact a local licensed electrician to learn more.
Are there any guidelines that I must follow to install the radiant heater?
Your electrician must follow the installation instructions set by the manufacturer, and make all connections in accordance with AS/NZS 3000:2018 Wiring rules. Please refer to the installation manual.
What is the minimum height clearance required?
HEATSCOPE® radiant heaters require a space of at least 1800mm from the ground to the lower edge of the unit. Please follow the safety clearances from the wall and ceiling as detailed in the installation manual.
Can HEATSCOPE® heaters be mounted directly on a wooden structure?
HEATSCOPE® infrared heaters are supplied with optional mounting devices such as spacers to meet the recommended minimum clearances from combustible material. When used, it is safe to mount the appliance to the wood supporting structure.
Do you have a recommended installer?
We do not have a list of recommended installers. Please contact your local electrician.
How do I clean my HEATSCOPE® heater?
Cleaning the appliance is easy and takes only a few steps. First, disconnect the heater from the power supply at least one hour after operation. Please make sure that the heating elements are no longer glowing before you do this. Next, wipe off any dirt or dust to the exterior housing, using only a soft damp cloth.
How long do the dual carbon rods used in Vision and Spot last?
Provided they are installed in accordance with their requirements and instructions, HEATSCOPE® infrared heaters require very little maintenance and their heating elements can have a life of at least 10,000 hours of operation.
How do I replace the carbon fibres of my HEATSCOPE® heater?
Replacement of the carbon fibre elements must only be handled by a professional. If one carbon element is not working, please contact our customer service department.

How long is the warranty period?

Where is the power connector of HEATSCOPE® infrared heaters located?
The HEATSCOPE® VISION and Spot heaters have the power cable attached to the unit on the right and an on/off switch on the back of the unit.
If I purchased from a retailer, can I contact MAD Design Group directly for warranty?
It is best to contact the retailer where you made your purchase. The retailer will help you resolve the issue or submit the warranty claim on your behalf.
Can I return my product without the original box and accessories?
In order to be fully covered under warranty, the product must be returned in its original packaging with accessories. If any items are missing, or if replacement packaging must be provided, the associated costs will be deducted from the credit or refund.

What exactly is infrared? And what impact does infrared radiation have?
Every object that gives off heat is an infrared radiator – including the human body. This radiation always depends on the wavelength in which the heat radiation is emitted. There is a difference between short waves, mid-waves and long waves.
The general rule of thumb is: the shorter the wave, the brighter the light emitted and the deeper the rays penetrate into the tissues in the body.
The most effective and pleasant waves are the mid-waves (HEATSCOPE® VISION) or the fast mid-waves (HEATSCOPE® SPOT) – these produce the highest possible heat output with high radiant efficiency whilst generating the lowest possible light output.
Why are there design heaters with and without a glass front?
At HEATSCOPE® you can choose between different model ranges. The main difference – along with the length and output – is the design of the front side.
The VISION ambient heater has been equipped with a SCHOTT® NEXTREMA® glass ceramic front, whereas the SPOT power heater has an open fin front screen.
The NEXTREMA® glass reduces the already low light output (only 30% when compared with conventional heaters) by half again to reach a barely perceptible minimum of just 15%. However the glass front also makes the ambient heater more vulnerable to wind.
For this reason, the VISION models should only be used in areas protected from wind.
Which heater model is the best for me?
This depends on the installation environment. If you own an open terrace, where sometimes the wind is blowing, we highly recommend only the SPOT power heaters.
But if you want to heat your glass house, conservatory or loggia, we entrust the ambient heaters VISION to you. These perfectly match well covered areas.
A rule of thumb is: The more open the area the more open the heater has to be – even if the other model looks nicer and is pleasing you more.
Are HEATSCOPE® heaters water resistant?
All HEATSCOPE® VISION and SPOT radiant heaters are protected against dust and splash-water (IP44 and IP24)! In other words: the heaters require additional protection from above/behind against persistent or strong rain, such as a canopy or roof.
In general though a wall projection (or similar) is sufficient. If no rear protection is possible and the heater is to hang completely freely, a HEATSCOPE® weather protection shield is obligatory in all cases.
The weather protection shields are available in black or white and incorporate the shape and curvature of the rear side of the design radiant heater.
In this way, HEATSCOPE® VISION (IP44) and SPOT (IP24) heaters are optimally protected against wind and weather.
How do infrared radiant heaters like those from HEATSCOPE® work?
Infrared radiant heaters like the Vision and Spot series heat directly by coming through the air like sunbeams. They first warm up the surface of materials and bodies. There is therefore hardly any heat loss, unlike with conventional heaters and gas patio heaters.
What are the advantages of HEATSCOPE® heaters over traditional heating systems (such as “mushroom-type” patio heaters?
HEATSCOPE® infrared radiant heaters generate heat directly unlike gas patio heaters which produce a high level of CO2 emissions and only provide heat when in close proximity to the unit. HEATSCOPE® infrared heaters are quiet and do not emit odors as they electrical. For commercial use or for a city apartment terrace where floor space is paramount, the HEATSCOPE® heaters will free up a fair amount of space.
How do I install infrared heaters from the HEATSCOPE® series?
Each HEATSCOPE® infrared heater is supplied with the attachments for ceiling or wall installations. We also have various other optional mounting devices should they be needed such as extension rods and hinge joints to name a few.
Can HEATSCOPE® infrared heaters be mounted directly on a wooden structure?
HEATSCOPE® infrared heaters are sold with our mounting devices called spacers and when used it is absolutely safe to mount the Heatscope heater to the wood supporting structure. Thus, the use of the HEATSCOPE® mounting accessories provides the recommended minimum clearances from combustible material.
Can I install HEATSCOPE® infrared heaters directly to a power source?
Most of the time when an electrician installs the HEATSCOPE® heater the power cable will be connected directly to the electrical grid. The resulting electrical circuit is then turned on and off using a dedicated switch. Each heater must have its own fuse.
At what height do the heaters deliver their best performance?
The optimal mounting height for the HEATSCOPE® Vision heater is between 7ft and 9ft (in semi-open wind-protected areas) which can even be achieved with high ceilings with the use of HEATSCOPE® fixing extensions. HEATSCOPE® heaters must be covered to be protected from the elements.

In order for us to provide the optimum number of heaters and their positioning please contact us.
Rule of thumb: when choosing a model: the more wind exposure, the larger the heating area, the higher the installation, the more light the model should have.

Can I control HEATSCOPE® infrared heaters continuously with a standard dimmer?
HEATSCOPE® infrared heaters cannot be controlled with a standard dimmer due to the amount of power required.
HEATSCOPE® VISION and Spot heaters can be controlled with an on/off switch or via an infrared remote control with two switchable power levels, (on/off, 100%, 50%).
Do I need a separate remote control for each HEATSCOPE® heater?
No, one remote control works with multiple heaters. To control the HEATSCOPE® VISION and Spot heaters simply hold the remote control toward the respective heater and alter the setting (either up or down) to the desired power level.
How long do the dual carbon rods (HEATSCOPE® VISION and SPOT) last?
